“Do the right thing. It will gratify some people and astonish the rest”. – Mark Twain
Personal Power
Your personal power is both a right and a responsibility
With personal power, you have the right to express your thoughts, opinions, and ideas freely.
However, it is your responsibility to respect the rights and perspectives of others.
This week’s ADHD Advantage
Your ADHD Creativity
Use brain-dumping techniques to benefit from your creative ADHD skills.
Try various brainstorming techniques that capitalize on this strength.
Freewriting, mind mapping, or working with others can help unlock your creative potential by allowing ideas to flow freely without judgment or restriction.
Put that creativity to use by taking action. Think big, Start small and enjoy the journey.
This week’s ADHD Challenge
Emotional Balance
This is no easy task for most people, especially ADHDers.
Trying to keep the emotional playing field level is an ongoing challenge.
Your emotions are the by-product of the thoughts running through your mind.
Your thoughts are based on your beliefs.
“Your emotions are the slaves to your thoughts, and you are the slave to your emotions.” – Elizabeth Gilbert
Solutions
- Start with becoming aware of your thoughts and feelings
- Next, adopt a non-judgemental approach to your fluctuating thoughts and feelings.
- Spend 60 seconds observing your wandering mind without attaching any meaning to the sensations you are experiencing.
- Now, identify a strong emotion. It doesn’t matter what it is; it is just a temporary emotion you are feeling in the present moment.
- If the emotion is distressing, identify the belief behind the feeling.
- Question the validity of the belief and then replace it with an empowering one that helps you feel better.
- Feeling better will help you take positive steps towards today’s tasks. Even the boring ones
Weekly Tip
Expand Your Comfort Zone
We all have a natural inclination to stay within our comfort zone.
Stepping outside this zone can be scary, as it involves uncertainty and potential challenges.
Get support from friends, family, or mentors who can guide you as you navigate unfamiliar territory.
A support system can make the journey outside your comfort zone more manageable and enjoyable.
Treat it as an exciting adventure.
“Whenever you feel uncomfortable, instead of retreating into your old comfort zone, pat yourself on the back and say, “I must be growing,” and continue moving forward.” – T. Harv Eker
